2008 Australian International Design Awards has recognised Volkswagen

The annual Australian International Design Awards in 2008 has recognised the Eos CSC (Coupe, Sliding & Convertible) Roof and 1.4 Dual Charged TSI Petrol Engine from Volkswagen for their design excellence and innovation within the Automotive &
Transport category. Both Volkswagen products won Design Awards.
The Volkswagen Eos is the first car in the world to feature a five section hard top with an integrated sliding/tilting glass roof. The CSC roof offers several advantages, which are not only visual, but also practical. The roof can be opened and closed respectively in only 25 seconds by the use of electro-hydraulics.
The Eos also took out the award for ‘Exterior Winner’, one of the categories of the Wheels Automotive Design Awards, held in conjunction with the Australian International Design Awards.
The TSI engine, which is available within the Golf Sport range, is dual-charged through an innovative combination of an exhaust gas turbocharger and a mechanical supercharger. At low speeds, the supercharger provided the extra air necessary to burn fuel at its optimum rate, while the turbocharger kicks in at a higher rev stage – producing maximum power with minimal fuel consumption.
The Australian International Design Awards, a division of Standards Australia, is recognised by the Commonwealth Government and the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design as the peak promotional body for the Australian design industry, and for its important role in fostering a culture of design and innovation in Australia.
