Golf GTI is one of “10 Best Cars of 2008” American motoring magazine “Car and Driver” picks ten favourites Wolfsburg, January 24th, 2008. The staff at US motoring magazine “Car and Driver” (January 2008 issue) have chosen the Golf GTI as one of the “2008 10 Best Cars”. The GTI had already made a return to this list last year — following an absence of 21 years — and has now successfully defended its place in 2008.

The selection was made from a total of fifty vehicles from American, European and Asian manufacturers. It was the balanced concept of the Golf GTI in particular that impressed the jury. On the one hand, it has true sporting attributes — supported by the intelligent DSG automatic gearbox — and, on the other, it does not compromise in terms of comfort, for example, space and high-quality feel. The editors were mainly impressed by the GTI chassis, it delivers composed and precise responses that the American experts believe result from the “autobahn breeding” of the GTI.

The Golf GTI is available in Australia in both three door and five door models. Pricing starts from $38,490.
